JMI Electrical & Air Conditioning was founded in 1978 as an electrical and air conditioning contractor with its main focus in motor/generator rewinding, repair and maintenance, pump & compressor overhauling, and electrical installation, trouble-shooting and repair.

On the other hand,
JMI Motor & Bearing Supply was founded in 1979, and was later renamed as JMI-Edison. It was started in response to the growing demand for new equipment such as electric motors, generators, pumps, transformers, etc. which was readily recognized by management at the time.

The two companies were initially started as sole proprietorships, and were later brought under one corporate entity named Johndel International, Inc. (JII) in September of 1986. In January 1987, management of the company was turned over to Ed Ilao by his father, John M. Ilao who was the founder of the respective companies.

Under the new direction of Ed Ilao, holder of a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering and a Registered Professional Engineer, JII recorded unprecedented growth during the boom years of 1988 to 1992. This success has enabled JII to diversify and to invest in other business activities that would insulate it from downturns in the economy. Thus, growth has been sustained up to the present time.

Throughout its more than 30 years in business, JMI has been continually providing its services in motor rewinding, equipment repair and maintenance, pump & compressor overhauling, and electrical trouble-shooting, installation and repair to various government agencies, as well as, to private businesses throughout Guam, the CNMI, and Micronesia.

In addition, JMI has expanded its line of business to the installation, service, maintenance, and procurement of the most advanced medical equipment available in the world today. With its intricate knowledge in electrical, electronics, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, coming from previous experiences, JMI made a conscious decision to cross-train its engineers and technicians to be able to specify, install, service and maintain sophisticated medical and radiology equipment. These new equipment use cutting-edge technology in both computer hardware and software, as well as, the latest miniaturized electro-mechanical systems using state-of-the-art pneumatic and/or hydraulic systems technology.

JMI is now able to offer its comprehensive and specialized technical knowledge and experience, to its ever-increasing list of customers like the different government agencies, and the private commercial & industrial establishments.

2009 will prove to be a challenging year. But under the guidance of its managers and with the hard work of the employees and vendors, JMI is in a good position to do well and provide its customers with the highest level of service and support.
